In my experience, your words of wisdom are falling on deaf ears. Years ago I
tried various times to try and get people to edit their replies.
Back 20 - 30 years ago people had smaller quotas on their mailboxes. I spent a
lot of time removing addresses from various lists because the mail bounced back
because the user was over quota. Especially AOL addresses, they were the
worst. One time I actually did some math and found that something like 28% of
the email errors I was dealing with came from the 8% of list subscribers with
.aol addresses.

But all to no avail. People will not take the time and minimal effort to edit
their replies. That's the way it is, and we all have to suffer from their
laziness or incompetence or whatever reason they don't bother editing replies.
Just click the button, who cares about what a mess it makes.

Call us lazy, call us incompetent, but sometimes in our zeal to assist another
TR colleague, we just may not notice. None of us intentionally want to tick off
our fellow listers. Maybe a kind word to the offender would be more useful in
the long run.
