- Todd, have you tried compressed air? Probably a little less messy. Put the loose piston back in and find a way to clamp it so that it wont come out while you apply air to try and free the stuck pisto

- Al, my 76 looks like you describe, and my pedestal has only one hole. Anyway, this is only a guess but if your pedestal has two holes for the lock plate, I doubt if it would matter which way it goes.
