- it's probably a shim washer to center the caliper over the rotor. I've found 'em on a few cars. They seem to come in pairs, tho- you should have 2! Just 1 would cock the caliper relative to the roto

- I've always just checked the piston oversize number (stamped on the crown of the piston) then ordered that size. I have, out of paranoia, always checked end gap before intstalling, just to be sure. T
