Not long ago I saw an article about the Guzzi V8s today and it said that the Moto Guzzi factory has two or three of their original V8 racers in new condition in their own museum at Mandello del Lario

Yes indeed, Bruce, C.T. Automotive built their own slide throttle mechanical injector for the first Bonneville Ardun back in '51 and it took a record around 162 mph in their street-driven Hiboy '32 F

Neil, the only thing I would add to that is that on my early Hilborn, the only thing the barrel(metering) valve does is cut the closed-throttle fuel flow down to about (an adjustable) 10% for idling.

No Ed, on the Hilborn all the fuel for the system flows through the barrel valve, so on closed throttle on the overrun, the flow is cut back to say 10% of full flow, which will probably not interfere
