Has the gauge ever worked properly since you got it? It would almost seem that there has to be a short in it, or it is defective for some other reason if it still works backwards with the wires rever

But the voltage stabilizer doesn't reverse the current, it only controls the "rate" at which it flows, and even if it's hooked up backwards, or is eliminated altogether, that shouldn't change the way
