I'm trying to deside if I can correct my original Water control valve or purchase a new one. What I need to know is the amount of slide/pull/stretch/etc. that the pin which hooks on the cable moves.

I have a 600 Holley on my 66 MK 1A, with a hypo 302 cam, with hydralic lifters and jet hot cooled headers. But I have the manual choke. Paid $ 50 rebuilt. Runs great and very strong. Very low maint.
