Dave,
Backmarkers are a part of racing. Moving fast through a field of slower
cars is just another skill racers develop. You just keep doing what you
are doing! I found all our drivers to be very predictable, which is key
to good, fast, clean racing. Well done to all those folks who thought
they were in the way, but in reality, were adding context to a fun
experience!
As a New Englander, I have been racing with those Spitfires from Vintage
Racing Services my entire race career. When VRS owner Kent Bain was
racing the white/green Spitfire (the one for sale in the paddock that
has been discussed here) they never put him in the Small Bore group,
they put him in Mid-Bore. And he always finished on the podium, more
often than not on the top step. That shop has some real talent behind
the wheel, and they know how to prep a Spitfire to GO. I wasn't the
least bit surprised to see David Gussack as the class of our field in a
VRS prepared Spitfire!
