I=E2=80=99m about half way home and thought I=E2=80=99d share my thoughts o=
n the Mosport Kastner Cup races last weekend.
- Henry was right, VARAC puts on one heck of an event at Mosport.=C2=A0 The=
y welcomed the Triumphs with open arms, provided lots of track time, and fe=
d us well.=C2=A0=20
- We had the mandatory test day on Thursday with 4 on track sessions.=C2=A0=
I ran 3 of those.=C2=A0 The race weekend had 10 sessions and I ran 9 of th=
ose.=C2=A0 My car worked very well all weekend with just a couple of minor =
issues that were easily fixed.=C2=A0 I never even had to add oil or water t=
he whole time.=C2=A0 Crazy.=C2=A0 Just A LOT of gas.
- Bill was right.=C2=A0 The Mosport track is both fun and terrifying at the=
same time.=C2=A0 I felt like I was doing pretty good most of the weekend, =
but Henry still turned a lap 3 seconds faster than my best time.=C2=A0 I co=
uld never really get comfortable going into turn 2.=C2=A0 I even tried just=
closing my eyes and hoping for the best, but that didn=E2=80=99t work eith=
er.=C2=A0 I=E2=80=99m thinking I only achieved 2 3/4 testicles rather than =
a full 3.
- Hanging out with fellow FOT racers is always a great time.=C2=A0 There is=
n=E2=80=99t a bad one amongst us (except for me, maybe).=C2=A0 Everyone has=
a good time, races clean, and is always willing to lend a hand or spare pa=
rt if needed.
- Bob Lang, Jesse Darrow, and Pat Darrow provided some great racing fun.=C2=
=A0 I=E2=80=99ll post the video I took during the Kastner Cup race and you=
=E2=80=99ll see what I mean.=C2=A0 All three are my kind of people, and I h=
ope they take that as the compliment I intend it to be!
- Thanks to Greg Thompson who gave me one of those fancy blue Bosch coils a=
fter my Pertronix coil failed.=C2=A0 The car ran so much better after that.
- Congrats to Bob Lang for winning the Kastner Cup.=C2=A0 He deserved it.
- It was an honor to take 2nd place in the Jack Drews Memorial race.=C2=A0 =
I deserved 3rd, but Jesse Darrow was kind enough to run out of gas towards =
the end.=C2=A0 Fortunately for me, he doesn=E2=80=99t suspect any foul play=
.=C2=A0 I also won the Peggy Kastner fastest TR4 award, which was a nice bo=
nus.
- A big thanks to Henry Frye for organizing this one.=C2=A0 I always wanted=
to race at Mosport and he gave me the reason to finally do it.=C2=A0 I tru=
ly appreciate your efforts and your friendship Henry.
