Today I was at a neighbor's and he showed me a car hoist he had acquired a
few years ago but never used.  It is a 110 volt, hydraulic hoist with a
capacity of 2 tons.  It has 4 adjustable arms for lifting.  On wheels, it
has a separate "control unit" which can attach to the hoist and the unit can
be pushed or pulled into position.

 

Given the portability of the hoist, this seems like a great thing to have
for TR work, but neither of us has any idea what it might be worth.  I
couldn't find anything similar on eBay or Amazon.  Does anyone have a
suggestion what it might be worth?

y not to use or have to dispose of the chemicals for this process. =C2=A0 A=

The hoist doesn=E2=80=99t have posts =E2=80=93 it is flat on the ground =
(and can be stored on its side) and supposedly lifts to about 30 inches. =
 It is currently buried, but I=E2=80=99ll try to pull it out and get =
pics.  No serial number right now and I am guessing it had been around a =
long time (many years).

Today I was at a neighbor=E2=80=99s and he showed me a car hoist he had =
acquired a few years ago but never used.  It is a 110 volt, hydraulic =
hoist with a capacity of 2 tons.  It has 4 adjustable arms for lifting.  =
On wheels, it has a separate =E2=80=9Ccontrol unit=E2=80=9D which can =
attach to the hoist and the unit can be pushed or pulled into position.

Given the portability of the hoist, this seems like a great thing to =
have for TR work, but neither of us has any idea what it might be worth. =
 I couldn=E2=80=99t find anything similar on eBay or Amazon.  Does =
anyone have a suggestion what it might be worth?

Can anyone tell me which way the manifold studs go into the head of my '75 Tr6?  Does the short end or the longer end go into the head?  


Also I recently had my water pump housing powder coated.  They coated the block and thermostat housing mating surfaces.  I tried to wire brush the coating off but only ended up giving them a different finished texture.  Can I continue assembly or does the powder coating have to be completely removed?  If it needs to be removed is there an easy way that doesn't risk marring the mating surface?

The short end goes into the head. Use some thread anti-seize and a 
double nut on the other end to tighten

As far as the powder coating, you may have to sand it off by putting 
some emery cloth on a flat surface such as some plate glass and then 
using a circle motion, sand until the coating is off. I have used that 
method when just refreshing surfaces such as a thermostat housing.

A friend in the Club finds himself in need of a head for his 69 GT-6. 
Would be great is someone had one for sale.  He tells me a TR-6 head 
would work but would have to be shaved down to fit.
Anyone have a lead on either item.
