My clutch hydraulics, master and slave are in good shape with no leaks. =
Have tension spring installed so TO bearing rotates all the time.=20

Clutch sporadically doesn=92t disengage upon pedal press, and the car =
creeps ahead at stop light, or doesn=92t disengage upon a restart.

Most of the time it works just fine with normal pedal travel and throw.

Any thoughts?

Kingr,

Do you mean an external brace between the top side of the shifter and the tranny mount?

Jeff

Jerry

There's was an extensive discussion about failing clutches a few weeks go. If you are 100% completely positively absolutely sure your hydraulics are beyond reproach, then I'm leaning toward your pressure plate being on its way out. They can fail slowly, and act up when they get warm.

My clutch hydraulics, master and slave are in good shape with no leaks. Have tension spring installed so TO bearing rotates all the time.

Clutch sporadically doesn?t disengage upon pedal press, and the car creeps ahead at stop light, or doesn?t disengage upon a restart.

Most of the time it works just fine with normal pedal travel and throw.

Any thoughts?

I saw a TR6 on craigslist the other day that sounded great, except he said =
'the clutch needs bleeding'. Oh what an unsuspecting buyer might be in for.=
I'd rather have one that won't start than to be lost in this clutch myster=
y again.

Good luck Jerry!!

My clutch hydraulics, master and slave are in good shape with no leaks. Hav=
e tension spring installed so TO bearing rotates all the time.

Clutch sporadically doesn?t disengage upon pedal press, and the car creeps =
ahead at stop light, or doesn?t disengage upon a restart.

Most of the time it works just fine with normal pedal travel and throw.

Any thoughts?

You gotta love craigslist, all the cars that have some simple problem =
that has been diagnosed and is a fairly easy and cheap fix, and the car =
"runs great" other than that, just needs a starter, just needs plug =
wires, etc. but the seller can't be bothered to do the $50 dollar repair =
to get $500 more out of the car. Getting older a more cynical or maybe =
wiser I guess.

I spent many years as a sys admin or whatever with the University of
Utah Computer Science department. You know, one of the first 5 sites on
the net. We had a long history with Berkeley, I've probably forgotten
more about BSD than I should admit. FreeBSD is a strong possibility,
will keep the lists informed of progress.

Mark,

I have been using Ubuntu for over 10 years now. Last year I "upgraded"
my wife's pc running xp to Ubuntu.
The best thing I can think of for Ubuntu is the update process. Never
had a problem. The only downside is the kernel is not as specific for
your hardware as Gentoo for example.

Good luck!

Bob

Hi Bruce,

A 1976 TR6 that was stored from new has just been purchased by a club
member of the San Francisco Area club (Triumph Travelers). It's not
exactly concours, but how often do you get a chance to photograph a TR6
with only 100 miles? See

This car is from Paretti Imports in Metairie, a suburb of New Orleans. I
bought mine from them in October, 1976 and at that time they told me there
was only going to be one more shipment. As I recall, the owner of the
dealership kept 2 of the 6s in the last shipment and they were used as
showroom decoration for many years.

The purchaser joined the club after buying the car, so I wasn't aware of
the details. Once we saw the car we realized what a great opportunity
it was for all of us '6 enthusiasts. The club decided to set up a way
to host to photos for all to reference.

Cheers,

Cregg
