As Karen has worked on the =93Rubber=94 section of the catalogue, I have mo= ved on to body fittings, windscreens, bumpers, grilles, and other fittings.= I have been romping through the sections, having a great time working wit= h parts I know and trying to get everything I have learned over the years d= own on paper for future customers. She= is providing her best efforts to give TR2 and TR3 enthusiasts a great part= s catalogue that provides originality information and assembly notes. One detail on which I have been working this week is TR2 fender bead or =93= wing piping=94 as it is described in the parts catalogue. If anyone has bi= ts of bead they will not be able to use because it is in bad condition, I w= ould love to have some sample pieces. The TR2 fender bead was made of plas= tic extruded in body colours with either a full circle of bead or a half ci= rcle, this varying from car to car. I want to study the possibility of mak= ing this product, but although I have drawings, I need some actual samples.= I am wondering if it could be produced in a neutral colour for painting a= s required to avoid making six colours, including geranium and olive yellow= . I have a couple of photos to share with you this week. One is from my frie= nd John Cox in Fredericksburg, Virginia. You will remember photos of his p= roject car a few weeks back. This week, he sent me a photo of the center d= ash panel from his TR3A. These, like early MGB dashes, are painted in blac= k crinkle finish paint in a process which usually requires baking for a whi= le in the oven. John=92s son, Ron, did the refinishing on John=92s center = dash. If you don=92t want to go through this process yourself, you can buy= a completely refinished center dash with all instruments and switches refu= rbished to concours standards by another friend, Frank Conklin, in San Dieg= o. I don=92t know if Frank would want me to publish his address, but you c= an get it from Albert if Frank agrees. Certainly, Albert can get you in to= uch with Frank. Frank has done a large number of dashes, and he has develo= ped the expertise to make all repairs to a very high standard. Many of Fra= nk=92s dashes are fitted to concours cars all over the U.S. Use this link = to see a photo of John Cox=92s dash, and you can see photos of Frank=92s products on eBay. A second photo was= sent by Paul Wittrock of Ventura County, California. Paul was worried by = my recent comment that I may not get back to TR2 and TR3 again because I ha= ve just turned 72. I do expect to continue to work for another five or ten= years, but there is much to be done, as I want to do a great job on TR2 an= d TR3 and then move on to other models. Paul Wittrock has a 1961 TR3A that= his dad pulled out of a field in Virginia in 1972 =93to give him something= to do.=94 Paul applauds his dad=92s foresight, and thanks =93guys like us= =94 for giving him =93decades of enjoyment, challenge, and fun.=94 His pho= to shows his car on a drive up the Pacific Coast Highway to Big Sur earlier= this year. It is a very satisfying job to deal with guys like Paul and Jo= hn and Frank. I never plan to retire, and I will spend a lot of my future = time in recording all that I know and trying to organize the original parts= , samples of interior components, and literature for use by future enthusia= sts. As Karen has worked on the =93Rubber=94 section of the catalogue, I have mo= ved on to body fittings, windscreens, bumpers, grilles, and other fittings.=   I have been romping through the sections, having a great time workin= g with parts I know and trying to get everything I have learned over the years down on paper for future customers.  Th= e rest of the chapters of the catalogue will be posted as Karen finishes wi= th page design and illustration.  She is providing her best efforts to= give TR2 and TR3 enthusiasts a great parts catalogue that provides originality information and assembly notes.  = I intend to finish the catalogue this spring, but the final publication dat= e will depend on how quickly the pages can be designed and illustrated.&nbs= p; With highest quality as the goal, this is not a quick process.  In the mean time, the catalogue will be available, chapter-by-chapter, on the website, where = you can see a big part of it right now.

One detail on which I have been working this week is TR2 fender bead or =93= wing piping=94 as it is described in the parts catalogue.  If anyone h= as bits of bead they will not be able to use because it is in bad condition= , I would love to have some sample pieces.  The TR2 fender bead was made of plastic extruded in body colours with eith= er a full circle of bead or a half circle, this varying from car to car.&nb= sp; I want to study the possibility of making this product, but although I = have drawings, I need some actual samples.  I am wondering if it could be produced in a neutral colour for painting as= required to avoid making six colours, including geranium and olive yellow.=

I have a couple of photos to share with you this week.  One is from my= friend John Cox in Fredericksburg, Virginia.  You will remember photo= s of his project car a few weeks back.  This week, he sent me a photo = of the center dash panel from his TR3A.  These, like early MGB dashes, are painted in black crinkle finish paint in a proc= ess which usually requires baking for a while in the oven.  John=92s s= on, Ron, did the refinishing on John=92s center dash.  If you don=92t = want to go through this process yourself, you can buy a completely refinished center dash with all instruments and switches = refurbished to concours standards by another friend, Frank Conklin, in San = Diego.  I don=92t know if Frank would want me to publish his address, = but you can get it from Albert if Frank agrees.  Certainly, Albert can get you in touch with Frank.  Fra= nk has done a large number of dashes, and he has developed the expertise to= make all repairs to a very high standard.  Many of Frank=92s dashes a= re fitted to concours cars all over the U.S.  Use this link to see a photo of John Cox=92s dash, and you can see phot= os of Frank=92s products on eBay.

A second photo was sent by Paul Wittrock of Ventura County,= California.  Paul was worried by my recent comment that I may not get= back to TR2 and TR3 again because I have just turned 72.  I do expect to continue to work for another five or = ten years, but there is much to be done, as I want to do a great job on TR2= and TR3 and then move on to other models.  Paul Wittrock has a 1961 T= R3A that his dad pulled out of a field in Virginia in 1972 =93to give him something to do.=94  Paul applauds hi= s dad=92s foresight, and thanks =93guys like us=94 for giving him =93decade= s of enjoyment, challenge, and fun.=94  His photo shows his car on a d= rive up the Pacific Coast Highway to Big Sur earlier this year.  It is a very satisfying job to deal with guys like Paul and Jo= hn and Frank.  I never plan to retire, and I will spend a lot of my fu= ture time in recording all that I know and trying to organize the original = parts, samples of interior components, and literature for use by future enthusiasts.  Thankfully, I have Albert = and TRF staff to help with all of this...
