Subject: [Bmcu] Source for front wheel bearings

Errors-To: bmcu-bounces@autox.team.net

Quick question for the TR crowd (as well as those knowledge in TR type
parts). I'm going to redo the front bearings on the Lotus Europa. Lotus
used Triumph spindles and bearings. Is there a good place local to SLC
to buy bearings? Or should I just order off the net?

Lee,

KAMAN Industrial Technologies, 1750 South 4370 West, Salt Lake City, 801-975-2000 should have any bearings you need. Take your old bearings with you when you go to KAMAN.

Subject: [Bmcu] Headlight adjusters
Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit
Errors-To: bmcu-bounces@autox.team.net

In my continued quest for get my Lotus ready for spring travel, I'm
currently redoing the headlight buckets. There are two adjusters in each
bucket. On one of mine, both of the nylon (or plastic?) nuts that fit
into the headlight bucket are broken. Does anyone know if these are
available? I've checked the local parts stores and the ones that they
have are WAY too big. All I really need is the nylon part, I still have
both of the screws.

So, any suggestions?

Lee

Lee,

I don't know what shape you need but maybe you could just cut a piece of scrap nylon and tap it for the thread?

Lee,

Do the nuts need to be plastic? If not then that would open up your
options. Otherwise perhaps somewhere like fastenal might be of help. They
certainly would have a larger selection than Lowes etc.

Lee,
After owning a few Lotus cars I assure you these parts are made specific to t=
he task. Many nylon parts are used to prevent things like excessive stress t=
o fiberglass parts etc. to source these parts try companies dedicated to Lot=
us cars like Dave Bean engineering in California.
Cheers,
Rob
