The factory ran them round the top hinge from a hole in the door just =
under the hinge and in the A-pillar just aft of the hinge, as shown here =
http://www.mgb-stuff.org.uk/radio.htm#3

My 75 V8 has those holes even though speakers weren't provided until =
77/78, I used them for the central locking. Just double-insulated =
stranded twin-core such as would be used for a mains appliance (uk at =
least), which has been fine for maybe 20 years now.

I am intending to put my speakers in the doors. Does anyone have =
recommendations as how to run the connections through the door gap? I =
did see once a plug and socket affair but that means no sound when the =
door is open - no big deal! I am thinking just thick multi-strand =

just use wire, but put a flexible rubber sheath over it, so it does not rub
the insulation off and give you bare wire.

Hello Folks,

I am having difficulty in putting speakers in my 1970 MGB GT.  I know
they can be put in the doors but I need some information on how.  Can
anyone give me useful details which the blokes doing the install can
follow.  I have Prestige UK (I am in Canada) panels an they have map
pockets which the install guys do not want to cut.

Cheers
Barrie

Not entirely sure I under stand the problem. If they are flush mount =
you have to find somewhere on the door where they can be recessed =
without fouling anything, then transfer that over to the panel. If you =
cut that from the back you should be able to leave a pocket unaffected. =
If they are surface mount then lower front is probably the only suitable =
area, which may be where any pockets are. But map pockets are usually =
in the footwell liners.

I am having difficulty in putting speakers in my 1970 MGB GT. I know =
they can be put in the doors but I need some information on how. Can =
anyone give me useful details which the blokes doing the install can =
follow. I have Prestige UK (I am in Canada) panels an they have map =
pockets which the install guys do not want to cut.
