Happy holidays all.=C2=A0 I'm hoping someone may have had this same problem=

=C2=A0 Then, about a week ago, I heard something click when I pushed it in,=

normal).=C2=A0 Yesterday, I noticed the door would not latch.=C2=A0 I tried=
pushing it real hard and got it to latch a couple of times, but now it won=

then I'd have said it was the button or the lever on the latch. But as =
it now won't latch at all then it has to be something in the lock. Door =
trim off, disconnect the internal lock and latch rods from the lock, =
three screws, and the lock comes out. Not really intended to be opened =
up, but this may help: http://www.mgb-stuff.org.uk/saga12.htm

BTW, always give the year as stuff like this varies, but the mention of =
'push-button' is a give-away.

... My driver's side door won't latch. Since I bought the car about =
4 years ago, the button on the door has been hard to push in. Then, =
about a week ago, I heard something click when I pushed it in, and after =
that, the button was easier to push (like what I would consider normal). =
Yesterday, I noticed the door would not latch. I tried pushing it real =
hard and got it to latch a couple of times, but now it won't latch at =
all.

Hello folks,
Has anyone had experience of Zero Garage doing a poly floor finish on
the garage floor?.  They did mine and it does not work well. The mud and
salt just do not wash off despite jet and washing detergent.  The
original concrete floor was much much better.  And they just ignore my
pleas and mumble email replies.  I certainly would not recommend them.

Barrie,

Have a friend that thought it would be good for the garage
floor and got the same results as you. We also have a restaurant that
have it and after 5 years of people tracking in snow and salty slush it
has lifted in places. Whether it's the product or installation it seems
like it hasn't lived up to the hype.

Zero Garage doing a poly floor finish on the garage floor?. They did
mine and it does not work well. The mud and salt just do not wash off
despite jet and washing detergent. The original concrete floor was much
much better. And they just ignore my pleas and mumble email replies. I
certainly would not recommend them.

Has anyone had a similar problem, or does anyone have any suggestions where=
I should look for a solution?=C2=A0 I intend to pull the hose off the oil =

Must be the old age thing.=C2=A0 After I sent my previous note, I got to t=
hinking, "What might I have affected when I changed the alternator, that wo=
uld cause this loss of oil pressure on the gauge".=C2=A0 OK, I did disconne=
ct the wire going to the oil pressure sending unit, but I labeled it with m=
asking tape before I removed it.=C2=A0 Maybe a loose connection? I checked =
the connection - it was OK.=C2=A0 So, if all else fails, read the manual - =
right?=C2=A0 The wiring diagram in the manual showed a white wire with a br=
own tracer going to the sending unit.=C2=A0 The wire I had going to the sen=
ding unit was white with a black tracer.=C2=A0 However, there was a white w=
ire with a brown tracer coming from the wiring harness, but it had been tap=
ed back by a previous owner, and was not used.=C2=A0 So, what the heck, I t=
ried the white/brown wire and the gauge worked.
The mystery is that I am almost 100% sure the wire I removed from the sendi=
ng unit was the white/black wire.=C2=A0 Not only did I label it before I to=
ok it off, but that wire had a plastic shield around it, like heat shrink t=
ubing, except it was loose on the wire, and the other wire didn't.=C2=A0 Bo=
th of these things make me certain the white/black wire is the one I remove=
d.=C2=A0 Why then, after replacing the alternator, the oil pressure gauge d=
id not work, but after switching to the white/brown wire, it did?=C2=A0 Sin=
ce the wire that was attached to the sending unit (white/black) did not agr=
ee with the wiring diagram, I can only assume that a previous owner put the=
wrong wire on it.=C2=A0 But then, why did the gauge work with the wrong wi=
re on it?=C2=A0 When I discovered the correct wire, which had been taped ba=
ck, out of use, and hooked it to the sending unit, the gauge worked.
Any ideas of what caused this mystery?=C2=A0 Thanks.
Jack

Jack,

Check out this link: https://www.mgexp.com/article/lucas-colours.html.

It shows the white with brown tracer as oil pressure gauge and white
with black tracer as ignition coil contact breaker to distributor
contact breaker, or distributor side of coil to voltage impulse
tachometer. I would want to check both of those wires and see where
they really go. Does your car have a tachometer that should be using
that wire? Is the tachometer working? I don't know how the oil
pressure gauge would respond to the tachometer input. It would be
scary to think that you weren't really reading oil pressure before
and the gauge was just responding to the tach signal that says the
engine is turning, I don't really know if any of this is
plausible. I am doing a lot of guessing and speculating. I would go
back to what I said before, check where those wires really go.

-Steve T.

The electric oil gauge _would_ respond to tach pulses, but in a
significantly different way to how it should respond. But then the tach
wouldn't work - and that wouldn't respond to an oil pressure sender. It
doesn't even begin to explain how - apparently - both oil gauge and tach
were working normally before the alt change, and both apparently are now,
having swapped over an apparently previously used white/back with an
apparently previously unused white/brown.

Jack, You just answered you own question. If you have installed a electroni=

PaulH.

Having trouble stopping. It does stop, but not like it should. Like maybe
only the rears are working. Is there any way to test that?

Simple way is to lift wheels off ground. Spin gront wheel really fast an
have someone ztep on brake peddle. Repeat eith other wheel. Or just take
friont wheels off snd have someone hit peddle and see if calipers are
moving the pads.

Is the brake balance warning coming on? Does it work i.e. have you =
tested it? Have you checked the fluid levels front and rear in the =
brake master? If the fronts aren't working at all and only the rears =
then there is the same fault both side which can only be the master, the =
balance switch, or the pipe between them. If the balance warning test =
switch works but it isn't coming on then it could be the shuttle is =
seized, or the switch is faulty. But that would be in addition to =
whatever is causing the reduced pressure to the front circuit.

Highly unlikely to be the calipers themselves seized at exactly the same =
time, and if only one is seized then it would pull strongly to the other =
side.

Raising each corner in turn and seeing if the brake pedal (sic) stops =
the wheel is a sort of test, but it's not going to take much effort from =
the caliper to stop you spinning it by hand compared to the pressure =
that is exerted when slowing the car. They could still be working, but =
at greatly reduced effectiveness i.e. from gross contamination of =
pads/discs, but again that would have to be on both sides.

PaulH.

If the master cylinder has been out or if the car has always stopped funny -
check the pedal free play. If there is not enough free play then the fluid
cannot return properly through the master cylinder and owners/mechanics who
don't understand the system will just adjust the rear brakes to make it
"drivable".

Having trouble stopping. It does stop, but not like it should. Like maybe
only the rears are working. Is there any way to test that?

I've seen the rear adjusters backed way out so the rears don't lock up
in this situation on NA cars. Troubleshooting over email leaves lots to
the imagination, if we had our hands on the car it would be easier.
Pretty easy to check the free play though - don't even need to jack it
up :-)

Quite so.  I had the front brakes on my '69 B fail to release completely
once miles from home. Manifested as sluggish acceleration away from a
traffic light.  When I stopped to check both front brakes/discs were
hot, rear drums were cool.  So I opened the brake line to the front
brakes at the MC momentarily in order to release the pressure to the
calipers.  The brakes released and I went on my way.  Never happened
again but I sent that MC off to be rebuilt soon after that trip.

Quite so.  I had the front brakes on my '69 B fail to release
completely once miles from home. Manifested as sluggish acceleration
away from a traffic light.  When I stopped to check both front
brakes/discs were hot, rear drums were cool.  So I opened the brake
line to the front brakes at the MC momentarily in order to release
the pressure to the calipers.  The brakes released and I went on my
way.  Never happened again but I sent that MC off to be rebuilt soon
    after that trip.<br>
