Tiger Owners,

I have four Panasport 13" wheels(seven inches wide) for sale. I have
switched to 15" rims in order to get larger brakes on the Tiger. These
wheels are used and have been used for open track events. I currently have
three year old Hoosier race tires on them. I am selling them as a set of
four and asking $150 each but will negotiate some on them. Dale A. says
that if you are going to purchase new 13" Panasports today, they will cost
you $260 each.

If you are interested, contact me off line.

I finally took the time to sit down and focus on the Team.Net archiving
problem.
It seems to be working once again. Click on the archive link and check
it out.
There are still some problems, like the "prev" and "next" buttons, but
the basic
functionality is there, the archives are getting updated every hour.
It will be
a while before I get all the missing mail back in there, should be done
sometime
during the week.

And feel free to click on the links for the Google ads, I could use a
few pennies
and nickles for a celebratory beverage. Maybe an Epic Spiral Jetty IPA
or a some
of their Imperial Red...

The last post was my comment about the archives working again, sent on
Sunday. I guess folks don't have much to talk about.

Since there is not much being said..., how about this:

I generally try to support anyone's enthusiasm for their car, but I've owned a
Jensen Healey and those wheels are hideous on it. Panasports and a lowered
suspension would do wonders, though I still worry what might have been done to
the interior.

The sad thing is that those "rims" and tires are probably worth more than the
car!

...and just what have you got against some poor under 30 something trying to
keep his Jensen-Healey stock?

You know, I'd seen wheels like these in L.A., Reno, and here in Boston, and
I thought at the time, boy at least those things will never get adopted in some
conservative place like Portland, OR.

Fat Chance. I guess questionable taste will seep through any state border. If
there is a saving grace, it's that they come off, and the owner posted that
he has the stock wheels.

It must be a question of perspective. I'm surprised anyone would consider
Portland, Or. a conservative place. Maybe eastern Oregon, but certainly not
Portland. Steve

Just giving everyone the heads-up. Almost got scammed by a guy selling a
tiger on ebay last week named Paul Richards (probably a fake) at user name
butlerparts . I called ebay to verify, he sent out false emails claiming to
be ebay, and the serial numbers he sent didn't match his pictures. Anyway I'm
still looking for a Tiger Project here in Southern California-please help.

Tiger Owners,

I have two remanufactured Tiger steering wheels for sale @ $650.00 each.
These are original Sunbeam steering wheels that have been stripped down and
remanufactured to like new condition. All sizes and diameters are exactly
the same as original. They also have a new hub made to exacting standards
and color. They are made of African Mahogany with the black inlay. Each one
is cut and over laid exactly like the factory wheels, even the grip and the
finger indents are exact. You couldn9t tell these from a new steering wheel.
If you want to return your old steering wheel I will pay you $25.00 for it.
It will then be remanufactured and passed on to another Tiger owner. Photos
can be emailed.

If you are interested, contact Ken Corbin, 303-364-5787. (or email off line)

The "bologna" description claims that George Fallehy's signature is a
part of the package. Maybe that should make one question the rest of
the glowing claims.

Subject: [Tigers] Conservative PDX
Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit
Errors-To: tigers-bounces@autox.team.net

Steve,

Forgetting, temporarily, that we all are enjoying? the highly politically-charged
season right now, I meant 'conservative' as a characteristic of the automotive
tastes I remember while living there 25 years ago. I wasn't thinking 'red, blue,
purple' state. It's very possible that car tastes, as well as politics, have
broadened there since then.

I should have known better, but for some reason I didn't expect the chrome wagon
wheel flu to have reached there, call me naive.

I thought, then, that the local car-buying public tastes seemed conservative,
and that they tended to hang onto cars longer. Maybe, that's changed.

I do remember a small contingent of boutique automotive businesses that were
a surprise: John's Used Auto Parts, a foreign auto wrecking concern housed in
a four-story downtown building, a NW Portland dismantling yard specializing
in Ford Falcon parts, Burwells Ford Specialty - a classic Mustang parts and
Shelby Cobra restoration shop in NE, Oregon Classic Cars - a certified traffic
distraction in nearby Beaverton, the huge blue neon 'Volvo' sign that you can't
miss as part of the SW downtown skyline(it tops the 4-5 story Jim Fisher Volvo
building), and Monte Shelton's Alfa-Romeo, Avanti, Jaguar dealership where I
saw the first of two Tigers, only five blocks apart, in a two hour period -
the second was Richard Codanti's Med Blue car parked at the curb near the Galleria
downtown.

I left Portland in '91, and remember hanging out at Aldridge's in SE Portland,
among other places. West Coast Classic Cougar used to be in NW, in the
Montgomery Park area. You're right about conservative tastes in cars, at least
back then. Concours restorations were the only way to go and you'd see lots of
neat old iron driving around. I talked to a Tiger owner in a Fred Meyer
parking lot for a while one day in the early 80's. It seemed there was
something automotive going on all the time. My '72 Mach 1 was featured on a
local TV show, "Faces and Places" IIRC, that was visiting the first GI
Joes/Stroh's Beer Grand Prix race held at PIR. Politically, it's pretty left
leaning. Gone are the days when Weinhards beer would put commercials on TV
showing "Schludmiller Beer" (Schlitz/Bud/Miller) truckers trying to sneak beer
in to Oregon from California and being stopped by border guards that said
"Well now, where you going with that there beer?" or the governor put up signs
at the border saying "Welcome to Oregon. Now go home". Steve

You have to love selective memory. Admittedly there's a diminished
old-timers contribution to the list, but recollecting Portland,
Oregon and not mentioning the infamous Charles Heitz and his All
Foreign Auto Rebuilding & Parts, Inc. seems a total perversion of
history. To put it bluntly, today's "scammers" have nothing on
Charlie. His name still comes up whenever the question of marque
purity is discussed.

The Tiger on the Mecum only went for $21,000. That seemingly would be a
steal if it was really TACed as they claimed. The reserve was only $20K.
The Mecum auctions have sold Tigers in the past for $80-100K. Don't think I
had ever seen one painted a silver color.

Prices seem fairly low at auction, but I can't understand someone putting
only a $20K reserve on the Tiger.

Tiger/Alpine Owners,
I have four used 13" by 7" wide rims for sale. I am asking $150 each for
them (new ones are $260 each). I will not sell only two rims, the sale has
to be for all four of them. I had 205 X 50 13 inch Hoosiers on them and
have decided to change to 15" rims.

Contact me off line if you are interested. I can send pictures of them if
desired.

Who the heck goes to Illinois for an auction in October?

Somone looking for
a vey questionable Mk1. Im looking at the pics after reading the description
of the Mk1A and Im seeing round corner doors and trunk, the radiator hose with
holes in the fan shroud holding the metal tube- rnd crner everything?? I then
recheck the vin and its a Mk1- several things make this car questionable---
mainly the owner has no idea what the car even is- what LAT items the car
honestly has and how many stock items are missing from a car with 4 owners
since 66- perhaps more pre 1966. I should have read what year they listed the
model. Well if its an Alger, they got it at a good price, if its a Tiger, they
will be embarassed if they keep it and start telling real Tiger peeps what
they have. TAC is so good to have!!

Apart from the descrition of the car as a MKIA.. which it certainly is not
y the body.. it has lots of bits that need detailing or sorting.. if its a
real car it was sure as setal at that money...

as for silver tigers.. there are a few around.. 3 down here in Au that i
know if. and about 5 or 6 in the states i have seen.

MK -- silver MKIA ;-)

While I did not personally lay eyes on the car I WAS surprised at the low
price it went for.

A comment was made in an earlier post about authenticity. The comment made by
Mecom or maybe the owner was to the effect that the car was in the "registry".
You know what, ALL Tigers are in the "registry", which would be the BON. They
did not state that it was a TAC'd Tiger.

Now to that end the serial number given is in the BON and one that provides no
information. I would guess that the car was a west coast car for a number of
years. Mecom copy states restored in 2000 and photo documentation of the
restoration accompany the car. Remember it was signed by George Fellehy and he
died in 1993 if I am not mistaken.

Dana Mecom has had more than average experience and personally owned one
before he built his auction business. I am sure he does all in his power to
make sure he is not selling Algers. I would be willing to bet that Mecom has
sold more Tigers than any other auction house.

Curt,

remember it was just the filter housing that was signed, so that could have
been done pre-resto.. so thats ok (that said they called it a LAT filter
housing which it is not)

The car looked very straight an solid.. if it is legit it seemed a very
good but.. best buy fo alongtime if its not rebodied.. if it was rebodied,
its a decent car fo the money.

The signature was George Boskoff's. He and Carroll Shelby signed stuff at TU 4
in Park City, 2004, so I would guess that the signatures date from that
event.
