Back in the days of IVR running events at Wendover, I switched to a=20
single wire alternator in the Killer Spit.=C2=A0 I had to fab some brackets=

to make it fit, but it worked well.=C2=A0 The first event I ran at Wendover=

went very well, I was pleased.
The second event was a bit different.=C2=A0 First race I was doing fine,=20
getting passed bt the Mustangs and Corvettes and RX-7s as usual.=C2=A0 I ca=

to the hairpin before the main straight, hit the brakes and nothing=20

concrete for quite a ways.=C2=A0 Got back to the pits, popped the bonnet an=

immediately saw the problem.=C2=A0 The single wire between the battery and=

the alternator had come undone from the alternator.=C2=A0 The wire was tied=

to the chassis with a nylon tie a foot or two from the alternator.=C2=A0 Th=

it from shorting out on the chassis was the brake line to the left=20
front.=C2=A0 It bounced around.=C2=A0 Ever hear of EDM, electric discharge=

machining?=C2=A0 Well, the wire was still attached to the battery on the=20
other end.=C2=A0 Every time the O ring bounced on the brake line, it sparke=

=C2=A0 And soon enough the sparks had eaten through the brake line, and all=

the fluid drained out of the system.=C2=A0 No fluid, no brakes!
